Default D drive.

Hi all, Im not that great when it comes to computers. Its only recently that ive been atually looking into my computer properly.

The thing is i have a D drive which (to my prospective) is just sitting there. It seems to be doing nothing.

Is there anything i can do with this? I only have one place where i insert cd's.

Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Any feedback would be much appreciated. thanks!

Default D drive.

Are you saying the drive has just stopped opening?

Sorry i didnt explain right.

The D drive is fine. I was wondering what it gets used for? It seems to me that its just sitting there not doing anything (its not being used) Can i use it for anything?? Extra space ect?
Thanks for the reply Dave

Default D drive.

^^ Are you sure about that? If you only have 1 CD drive, I'd expect that to be D drive. IMHO, it's unlikely you have two hard disks.

Default D drive.

Is your It's possible that the Hard Drive is partioned and the D: Drive is just a second partition.

Try copying a file from Drive C: to Drive D: ... and see if it stores it on Drive D:

Is your CD Drive Drive E: ?

Yes it worked. Think your right about it being partioned. Mr CD Drive is E. Do i have to store stuff on my D Drive manually then?
Thanks

Default D drive.

Yep .... it's just extra disk space for you to use as you wish.

The good thing about having a seperate partition is, you can store your data there and if you need to reinstall Windows at any time, you can do so, without losing all your data.
