Is there a way through the BIOS menu to stop my computer recognising my second hard drive? When I boot up, it starts the disk checking utility on this second drive (I cannot bypass this by pressing a key on the keyboard since the keyboard doesn't respond) which I'd prefer to avoid having to sit through.
I'm not too hot on the BIOS menu, so simplistic responses appreciated! Thanks for any help. |

Hi Jezzi.
As BIOS's menu's can and do differ can you first advise which bios you're using? (It'll state it at the top of the front-page when in the bios - eg: Amibios V3.31).

Sorry for the delayed response. The description at the top contains words such as "Phoenix" and "CMOS" - is that what you were after? Thanks for any help.

Yes, it should say press Del (delete) or something to enter BIOS.

In there you can disable the hard drive. You could always take the side of the case off and unplug it. My System: Hybr!d

Unplugging it would be an easier way. But I am not sure, why do you wish not to use the space on the hard drive and thus disable it. You will not be able to use the space of that hard drive, are you aware of the fact?
If yes, then unplugging it from your mother board would be the easiest way for a novice. Good Luck. |

I think he wants it disabled because it is faulty. :)
