Default Disc Drive problem

Hi all, my problem is as follows. I have a Toshiba laptop with an optical Disc Drive which will not recognise a disk. Well I say it won't recognise a disk but for the past 3 days it has been working perfectly, then all of a sudden it stops reading the disk. The problem could be that the loading tray is very loose, but I can't understand why it'll work fine for a while, then just suddenly stop. Any ideas, as it's very infuriating particularly if I'm playing a game & an error message appears?
Thanks in advance.

Default Disc Drive problem

Is the disk damaged in anyway? Does the optical drive still play other disks without problems?

Default Disc Drive problem

The discs are fine, if one loads they all load, if one won't load none of them will load.

Default Disc Drive problem

It could just be a dust issue. Suggest trying the following:

1. When you open the drive the lens is very easy to see - just give it a quick wipe with a cotton bud.

2. Get a can of compressed air from a computer shop and give the drive a quick blast just to blow out any dust that may be causing the prob.

If none of these work then it could mean that there is a more serious problem with the lens/laser and the drive on its way out. If this is the case then the problem will get worse and pretty much the only solution is to replace the drive. If it is still under guarantee then I think they should replace it under the guarantee.
