Hello all,
Had a problem when i changed to a new hard drive. For a few weeks it was temperamental and wouldn't start now and again, kept saying DISK READ ERROR and hanging on bootup. Then it became constant. So i checked out the drive using the floppy disc checker from the manufacturer but it came out 100%, and i switched back to my old hard drive. Now my old hard drive has the same problem! So i guess its not the drive, but don't know how to fix it and can't afford to get it checked over professionally. I do notice that when the startup screen lists primary master it looks like gobble-de-gook for either hard drive, like "$%$£^$^£$^££$ 56774%£$", so i wondered if it could be the motherboard? Have checked all the basic stuff like jumper settings etc and thats all ok. Any help much appreciated. Thanks, Andrew King |

Try using a different power connector. If that doesnt work then get a new data cable.
