HI right i have had the above errors for a few weeks now and can not burn any discs be it cdr or dvdr, i have tried different makes of discs and on both my dvd drives but the same error comes up.so far i have lost 15 cdrs and 10 dvdrs
![]() This problem only started when i did a reinstall of XP as befor it was so cluttered and defrag was taking forever. I have got all drivers installed and no ? or ! in device manager so i dont know. I use 2 burning progarms Nero 7 Roxio creater 10 (demo) both the above send the same error when it gets to about 7% burn complete. DVD ram drives LG GSA-4167B NEC Optiac 7173A Thanks in advance for any advice you can give Nic.. |

Reinstall the drivers, check cable connections.
edit: also, are they hooked up via IDE?

Yes ide apart from 4 HDDs which are satas. willl get on with drivers and cables now. Nic.. |

Well, this can also happen if certain drives don't like being set as slaves. Doubt you got two different kinds of them, though. :/

Go to Device Manager/IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, select the channel where the burners are located, right click, select Properties/Advanced and check that the drives(s) have not reverted to PIO MODE.

If they have, go back to Device Manager/IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, right click the channel again and select "Uninstall", then APPLY/OK. Now reboot the PC and Windows will automatically reinstall the IDE Controller and redetect & reinstall the drives. If there was a Windows glitch (known problem in XP) then this will flush it out.
