i took out my cd rom,replaced it with dvd writer,since then my original dvd rom seems to have taken the cd rom's place

it plays cd's,cd roms,but does nothing when i put a dvd in it

i have installed it properly ie master/slave etc

any ideas would be greatly appreciated

When you say it does nothing when you put a DVD in ...... do you mean autoplay doesn't kick in, or are you saying the drive cannot be accessed in My Computer ?

when i go into my computer,the drive comes up as dvd

but when i put a dvd in it i can hear it spinning but autoplay does'nt kick in

but if i put a cd rom or cd in it,they play

Can you right click My Computer and expplore the DVD ?

when i right click and explore

it tells me to insert a disc into drive
