Default Enlight 3.5" Card Reader Not Working

Enlight 3.5" Card reader with SIM, see here

Running on XP PRO x86

Presumed it was working fine, didn't come with a disc or anything, I guessed it was plug and play, icons for all the drives showed up in My Computer, all seems hunky-dory in Device manager, but MS update downloaded and installed Generic drivers for it anyway.

However when I actually came to use it, the light came on when I inserted the card, but no autoplay popped up.

Not particularly bothered at this point I opened My Computer, all icons still greyed.

So I tryed again, nada.

No "Installing Device Driver Software" balloon pops up either, although I suppose it wouldn't, seeing as it reckons its already downloaded it.

Actually I just checked the page on Misco, it specifically says
Quote:
Features
  • Plug and Play -No Drivers required
However it also says, package includes software CD. Mne wasn't in the package they picture, just in a cardboard box with some polystyrene protection...

Maybe I'll have a look around online for that software, but failing that, do you think I should uninstall those generic drivers, if it's meant to be Plug and Play? Or wouldn't they affect it at all?

Ok, their site is completely useless.

Drivers for server stuff only really, then some manuals and photos..

Brilliant..

So I uninstalled i from Device Manager, hoping Plug n Play would come into affect, no difference at all.

I'm at a loss now.. please help guys..

the disk would have been for '98 or earlier O/S's, as they dont support plug and play USB mass storage. What size card are you using?

512MB MSPro Duo

Tiny really, can't be that, surely they wouldn't make something supporting Vista, but not 0.5GB cards??

No i was just thinking that my printer has a built in card reader, but it wont read any SD card above 4gb, which gets a bit irritating? have you tried any different cards? it could be immensely bad luck and your reader is just duff.

Hehe, know the feeling. I had to resort to a screwdriver with my d600! Dam phones, they dont want you to get rid of them i swear :-P you can usually back your contacts up across USB or bluetooth though.

Yeah I know, it was more just for the sake of checking it wasn't the card, or that particular drive.
