I have some footage from a friends external hard drive that needs to be moved to my external hard drive so that I can give it back. I was able to move the smaller files, under about 5GB, without trouble.
But then when I try to move all the larger files, all about 10GB, it reads: "Error Copying File or Folder" Cannot copy 'file name' - Clip 001: There is not enough free disk space. Delete one or more of the files to free disk space, and try again. And then it gives me the option of 'Disk Cleanup...' or 'OK' Both hard drives are Western Digital My Books. The one I'm trying to transfer to has over 550GB free, and the one transferring from has about 300GB free. I have no idea what to do. I've even gone as far as to clear 12GB off the internal hard drive to see if that has had an effect and it didn't. Any help would be appreciated. |

If I remember correctly, if it is formatted in FAT32 Filesystem (which it probably is) then it won't support file transfer of files of more than 5GB. That's why you were able to transfer these with no problem.
ah yes.... had it in my bookmarks... http://www.hanselman.com/blog/TheDuh...ileSystem.aspx Hope this helps. |

Yep .... Jonathon28 is quite right .... it's a FAT32 limitation, the maximum filesize is actually 4gb
