Hello, i bought a game the other day that needs a dvd drive to play it, but my dvd drive has stopped working, cd's play ok so I've been told its the DVD laser and would need a new drive. I was wondering if an external DVD/CD drive would play games, as i could use this on both computers i have. Also could anyone reccomend a good one for around £50. thanks in advance

Yes, an external DVD drive will work fine.

Which interface do you plan to use? USB, firewire,SATA, PCMCIA (PC card)?

thanks for the quick reply, i dont have a firewire or pc card port, and dont know enough to use sata. So i'd have to use usb, do you think that would be sufficient enough for games like flight simulator? thanks

Yeah it will be fine for games, usually games only use the DVD drive for loading the game at the beginning to stop piracy

Here is good one here
