Default Hard drive back-up

Can anyone offer some advice please?
I'm a relative novice with computers (Dell Dimension 4500 - Windows XP) and have recently suffered extreme trauma from the effects of a nasty virus which somehow got past Norton. What I'm looking for is a reasonably priced way to back up the whole of my hard drive so that the contents can be re-created should I be unfortunate enough to get another 'invasion' or mechanical failure.
Thanks

First and foremost sack Norton, it's crap. To uninstall it thoroughly get the uninstall tool from Norton, just google Norton Uninstall.

For AV consult Avast in our Download section.

For backing up look at Acronis.

Default Hard drive back-up

All good advice from Wolfey.

If you are after an external Hard Drive the Western Digital My Books are pretty nice.
