Default Hard Drive Skinking...HELP!

Everyday now my hard drive seems to go about 2 - 3GB smaller, this is a new computer about 2 weeks old, in my computer it says i am using 397GB of 465GB but I have hardly anything installed and no music, pictures or documents or games.

Does anyone know why my hard drive is doing this?

Please help

Default Hard Drive Skinking...HELP!

You could try emptying your temp file and stuff like that, run CCleaner if you have it if you don't its in the download section

You dont use Norton by any chance do you?
If you are using Norton's Unerase or Protection, be particularly wary of it using large amounts of disk space for its protection routines, and cut back on how much of the disk it is allowed to use.

Default Hard Drive Skinking...HELP!

Lets see what is running that may be causing this.

Download HijackThis Here
Once you have it downloaded install/save it to it's own folder!!! This is important for it to work properly.
For example save in C:\program files\hijackthis
You can then create a shortcut on the desktop.
Once installed open the program and select Do a system scan and save logfile.
**Important DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
Save the log to your desktop.
In the next post click Go Advanced.
Scroll down and click Manage Attachments and add the log as an attachment.

you wouldnt be able to tell us what brand of drive you have? On my computer right click on the drive and go into properties. Then go to the hardware tab and it should have a list of devices. What does it say next to the picture of the hard drive?

Just seeing it was a bad brand. Like hitachi or samsung. Its a western digital caviar so that pretty much rules out the drive being the issue. Simply process of elimination.

If you think for 1 minute that a hitachi drive is as good as a WD or Seagate drive then you have a lot to learn. Never said it wasent the drive is said it was unlikely.

Let me give you a different example of your logic.
Customer: There is a strange sound coming from my cars engine
Mechanic(you): What make of car is it?
Customer :A BMW
Mechanic(you): Oh well it cant be the engine because BMWs are great.
