hi, i have just installed a new motherboard on my computer and now vista wont boot, about 1 second in it gives me a blue screen. i think this is because my hard drive has 2 power connectors (a sata and an ide) and i pluged them both in by mistake . however the hard drive is responsive because i can browse files on it using a boot cd.i have tried a repair with my vista dvd but that failed so i am installing vista on another hard drive.

so anyway my question is; once i have installed vista on my other hard drive is it possible to import the registry, drivers, installed programs and previous settings? as i dont really want to spend all day installing everything for the 5th time in the last 6 months, espessially with my exams that im taking this week.

so if anyone can help me that would be a life saver.

try disconnecting the ide cable if you haven't already tried
it may not be booting because it sees the same os on both connections
