I have a system which currently comprimises of a intel 915 GAV mother board a P4 3.4 ghz processer 1gb of ram made up of to 512mb sticks and a 7300gt graphics card the hard drives on the system are raid 1 running off a pci card i have now run out of space on these hard drives and clearly need to creat more space by adding a further hard drive the mother board has serial ata conectors on it if i was to purchase a single sata hard drive and conect it to the system would it work?? would the system stil boot of the other hard drives??? or would it be neccerecry to replace both hard rives conected in the raid system this is clearly a more expensive opption and i wish to aviod doing it if posible unless there is no other option.

You can run raid IDE as well as SATA.

So as I understand you have two IDEs on RAID.

Adding another drive on SATA will be fine and will just add another drive letter in 'My Computer'.

Booting is governed buy settings in your BIOS, so, if you simply add another SATA and don't change any settings your PC will continue to boot as it does now.
