Default HD and DVD recognition

First of all let me say thank you to all those who have helped me over the past few months decide what components to buy for my new build. Everything ran smoothly and I am writing this message on my brand new machine!! A couple of issues still need addressing;

BIOS recognises both my HD's but My Computer only shows one of the drives, does anyone know why this is?

Secondly, my DVD player didn't come with any drivers and is not recognised at all by BIOS or the machine. What can I do to resolve this?

Thanks again for all the help you guys have provided! It made the job a lot easier

well for the hdd's try going into disk manager (control pannel\admin tools\computer management) and see what it says there, it might just be that your other hdd does't have a partion set so is not recognised with windows, if one hdd says unaccolated for all the space, right click, and click create new partition.

As for the DVD drive, it doesn't require any third party drivers, all the drivers are generic and included in Windows.

If the drive is not showing in bios, check the jumper is set correctly (assuming it's IDE) and make sure the molex (power) connector is pushed in fully.

Thanks for the reply Phil. The drive is a Pioneer DVR-215BK 20x DVD±R. Its a SATA drive. How does this affect things?

Thanks

In that case, forget the jumper, it doesn't apply.

Is power getting to the drive ... i.e. anything lighting up or can you open the tray ?

also right click on my computer and go properties, then hardwarezdevice manager. Find the CD drive there, and try right clicking it and clicking update drivers.
