Ok after a little problem i came to relies that my hard drive is actually sata 2 not sata and ive had it in a sata port all this time could this hurt the hard drive in anyway? also can i switch it to the hard drive port still with all my files? and can someone tell me the diference between the two, thanks if anyone has any ideas?

No, it won't hurt the hard drive in anyway, the only difference between the two is the theoretical transfer rate.

As the files are resident on the hdd anyway, moving it won't affect them. Providing you take due care and attention, as you should when moving any component.

The only difference between Sata1 and Sata2 is the theoretical transfer rate. Sata1 has a max of 1.5gb/s (gigabyte per second) Sata2 has a max of 3gb/s

Thank you loads, that has taken a load of my mind :D, ermm when i do switch the cables when it loads up after the bios, the screen just goes black??

Firstly, leave it for about 30 seconds to see if the bios auto detects the new layout of the boot devices connected. As in the hdd's and optical drives. You swapping the drive with windows on over to another sata port may cause a delay.

If that doesn't work go into the bios and change the boot sequence.

ok hmm there is one simple problem only happens on odd time but when i load up the pc it just loads up thorugh bio's then goes black?

Ok basiclly now it wont even load up it goes past the bio's and then thats it goes blank?? please does anyone have any clue what could be the problem?
