| Hey people! Just building a new computer for my friend, not very good, nothing special but got a problem. I have put an old Maxtor 500gb SATA HDD in for him but not quite sure which mode to set for it in BIOS. When I built my computer i didnt really pay much attention to this and i just left it in Native Mode. I could just do the same for his computer aswell but just out of curiosity what do the different modes mean? I have searched on the web a little but no genuine answers. Can someone please tell me what each one means? Many thanks to any1 who replies! ![]() |

| well RAID is when you have 2 or more hard drives so you dont need to concider that. im not too sure but legacy seems to be for old hard drives that use an IDE interface. native mode is another name for 'compatibility mode' which is used with crappy and/or old chipsets etc. hope that helps!! |
