Default help my disc drive!

hi there! i am having problems with my disc drive! when i am putting a cd inside, it seems like the the drive is reading it but when you look to MY COMPUTER, and click the CD DRIVE, nothing appears. sometimes it will cause the laptop to hang until you eject the cd. i just encountered a problem in this drive just now because it was ok before. can somebody help me? i dont know if i should replace it or still fix it. does frequent burning of files to cds contribute to this damage? i burnt a lot this past few weeks. if that info helps. thanks!

if it will not read any cd/dvd, and it's in a laptop, it's broken and you need to see if you are still in warranty and seek out someone professional that can help, as it's near impossible to replace that yourself.

If it reads other CDs, then your CD is damaged

it has to be something else wrong.

Default help my disc drive!

Could be that the laser just needs cleaning, worth trying a cd/dvd cleaner before changing the drive and at the cost of buying one to find out is worth it

It should do an initial start-up spin, which brings the laser up into position, that might be enough to bring abit of life to the drive
