How much faster is RAID0? is it double, or is it only a slight increase (eg 10% or soemthing)? I am wanting to know this because, I am considering, whether to get 4 500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 drives, for RAID10, or a WD VelociRaptor 300GB drive, with another 500GB + dive as secondary and to back up onto.

The speed increase of Raid 0 (stripe) is negligible to be frank, even paring up two very fast drives (think 333gb/platter) and is not worth the risk for that speed increase when you consider that if one goes then you lose all your data.
I'd only ever consider striping for a high-end gaming rig, for the slightly increased loading times.

I was going to go raid 10 with 4 drive, so if 1 goes, I till have all the data, yet I still get the speed increase of raid 0, however if it is negligible, I will probably go with a VelociRaptor and a 500GB+ internal, or external drive for back up and for any extra space I will need.
