Hey guys, I'm not really amazingly knowledgeable with computers, so I was hoping you could help me out. About 14 months ago I got a new PC, and I use it for work and for watching DVDs. I think it's a pretty good PC, but the DVD playback is very suspect.
Here's what I have for watching DVDs: Samsung SyncMaster 913N monitor (ok, but no DVI...) NEC ND-4551A DVD-RW drive NVIDIA GeForce 7600GT graphics card Intervideo WinDVD software. Is there any upgrades I could make to improve my DVD playback? A monitor with a DVI cable? A new DVD/RW drive? Thanks for any/all help :) -Jimmy |

Hi Jimmy, in what respect is the playback 'suspect'?

Hi, thanks for the response. Well, the picture quality is sonewhat grainy and the colours aren't amazing...

That suggests the tft is the issue. I'm not suggesting it's faulty or anything just that over time (for instance) the backlights on tft's tend to dim, this could be causing the grainyness.
I wouldn't worry so much about having a DVI cable, the difference in picture quality is usually negligable. Have you another monitor you can beg/steal/borrow to get a benchmark?
