How to transfer my old harddrive to new one

I got a decent pc but i just know my hardrive is bottlenecking me
since it was from my old 4year pc. and i want to get a new one
and i want to transfer all the data to the new HD what can i do
since my old HD is an IDE one and im getting a SATA.

are you wanting to be able to use the new dive as your boot up with all the same setting etc? Because if you are you need a ghosting program, I use Norton Ghost, it copies everything from 1 hdd to another hdd. Therefore you could use your new dive as if it was your current drive (but faster) If this si not what you are meaning please explain further what you are wanting.

I don't knwo of a free one sorry, i'm not even sure if they exist, as they have to boot up on their own (no OS required) so take more programming. You might be able to get a version second had though, and it could be an older version, aslong as it supports SATA and lager disk sizes.
