Most cd-rom drives have a little hole which you can poke with a paperclip or something.

However this is something you should do when you can't find another solution. But as the poster above me says, maybe your drive's mechanics are just used up.

it could be undetected virus/spyware though I haven seen NOD32 miss anything before, or as above said it may be old..Head over to http://forum.piriform.com and make a post there in the "Spyware Hell" sub forum.

If you mean your CD-ROM drive itself doesn't mechanically open, and this happens off and on, chances are that the drive itself is mechanically fouled up. You'll probably need to get a replacement drive, and if you do, I'd recommend a DVD/CD combo drive. You can look for them at newegg.com, and below is a page on their site for those drives. Good luck.

If you have a cd stuck in there because the drive won't open for no good reason, and want to get it out, you have to restart the computer and press on the eject button as it is booting up. However, if it is stuck because you didn't place the cd correctly and it came loose inside, then you need to pry it open with a screwdriver or something. Not sure how safe that is, but it happened to me once, and I did it, and nothing happened to the drive or the disk.
