If it's a standard 3.5" or 2.5" USB drive, you should be able to remove the drive and put it in a new enclosure. It's most likely a standard IDE Drive, so just grab a new USB2 Enclosure and put the drive in. Providing the drive is not damaged it will fire up and work fine.

If you open the drive enclosure up, you might notice something obvious, like a power connector fallen out.

Have you checked the fuse in the plug?

If its a 3.5" drive then you could just stick it in a normal computer as a slave and copy the stuff off it, or if its a 2.5", get one of those laptop IDE adaptor things (the name escapes me) and plug it in as normal.

Saves buying a new enclusure.
