Default I have reformatted my computer 4 times,...

...swapped out two different hard drives. Still locks up!? After re-formating my hard drive and trying a second harddrive my computer locks up often. I have an AMD 2 ghz computer (self built), 1 gig ram (one stick), and nice video card. All windows updates are loaded. I have SP2 loaded, and norton antivirus and norton system works. After the first day (after fresh install) everything worked fine. However, on day two my computer locked up and I had to shut it down by hitting the power button. I am very upset and do not know what else it could be. Any suggesitons? The mother board is only a couple years old if that. Thanks alot for your feedback.

The most likely causes of your problem are:1. memory failure2. controller problemsHave you tried the HD in a new Motherboard/case combination?

sometimes there are physical problems with one of the main components, the only way to figure it out is to test out each individual component.

You need to check one of the following checks.1. Memory, Change the slot of memory stick., 2. Check Processor Airflow system, Fan is working properly do some tunning in that.3. You HDD don't have bad sectors, and no cache problem in HDD Main board.4. i don't recommend that you install lot of memory sucking softwares on your computer. Norton Antivirus is enough.check. hope you get out of it. Jeffy~
