I had two seagates go in my personal PC in a row.

I swapped to Western Digital but at the same time added a HD fan.

My new found reliability is probably more to do with the fan than anything else.

Anything that is manufactured, no matter what the field, will have flawed items produced, where one item in the same range might last for years, another might only last weeks or months, of course there are times when a whole model range are poor simply down to poor design and so on.

uh oh...i think i either replied to the wrong thread or it was removed from here er something....oh well. any who, do you guys think that the one i linked in the 1st part of this thread has a good reputation? cuz some HDD are just good by design. i don't hear much dieing Raptor HDDs. while others from WD are sadly known for crashing.

Wish you could get 500g HDD's over here for £60

Read the reviews on the site, and at the end of the day, Seagate have been going for years and are widely used as OEM, so the mainstream manufacturers are happy to hand out long warranties on their units with them in.
