hi

for that you Mainboard should support the Sata Hdd

point: since nothin is imposible you can install a Sata Hdd on old computers P4& so on ...!
only thing you will need would be a IDE to SATA cable

Keep up with that pal

If you have a Floppy drive, you can grab the SATA drivers from your mobo disk and put them on a floppy. I'm assuming you are trying to install a non SP2 version of XP ....... there will be a message right at the beginning of installation asking you to hit F6 to install third party drivers see here :

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/operat...llxpnew1_3.htm

If you have no Floppy drive or cannoot hook one up temporarily, you could use nlite to slipstream SP2 and your SATA drivers. Have a look here for free download :

http://www.nliteos.com/

This will allow you to create a new XP Installation disk, with SP2 and SATA Drivers integrated.
