I am wondering if it would be better to buy an internal drive, an external drive, or an internal drive and an external housing? Please specify why you have chosen what you have, and any recomended products to get (or to avoid). Also if you think 500GB is wrong, please recomend a new size.

Thanks

Internal drives are much, much faster, so unless you need it portable go for that IMO.

Well with an external housing or not it's still connected to the PC via USB, SATA2 is much faster.

I like Samsung's and Western Digital, strictly wouldn't buy anything else.

eSATA is just as fast as SATA. If you don't mind having an external sitting around and your motherboard supports it, go ahead and do that.
