That's fair enough.

But why ask for advice if you're not going to take it, also you responses to the advice have so far been irrelevant or vague.

You're not making it easy for us to help you.

If the data is that important it may be an idea to get a professional involved.

If the drive has become corrupted or damaged, you may find that it isn't possible to retrieve your data.
From your descriptions so far, it seems as though the drive may be corrupted.
Given that is the case, you could remove the partition and then try to create a new one and format it. Obviously this will delete all contents off the drive, but may make the drive itself re-useable.

You didn't really make it clear until post #33 that data retrieval was your priority, but if the data is critical/vital to you, there are a few other options, but given your knowledge level, as Dave says, you may be better off consulting a pro on Data retrieval, before trying anything else that might delete the data. A software package I use sometimes is RecoverMyFiles :

http://www.recovermyfiles.com/ , but like most packages, it isn't free and may or may not be successful .... it will depend on just how corrupted/damaged the drive is.

No.

You HAVE to assign the drive letter in disk manager.

If you cannot assign a drive letter then you will need to re-partion the drive and format it, losing all the data.

There is no way round this.

You can try some data recovery software, but, there are no guarantees.
