Heyy there
the technicians for the network that i do a lot of my work on has decided to 'block' memory sticks to some strange reason that they don't seem to know either. you can now no longer access my computer (removed from desktop, start menu and the drop down from explorer.exe), you can access my computer in programs like PowerPoint or dream weaver, but they have somehow stopped a memory stick or hard drive 'mapping' onto the pc, so my computer comes up blank. does anyone know a way around this?? i keep all my work on a memory stick cos the server storage is so damn unrealible things have a habit of vanishing .....I've tried the obvious and haven't got anywhere, all access to CMD has been blocked, as well as running .bat files.. am lost now, its really aggravating, because i keep having to email the stuff to my self, and with a 10mb limit thats several emails at least!! i wasn't sure whether this should be in here or the software pages, but this seemed the most relevent. cheers, MCTW |

I would suggest just booting a Linux distro off a USB stick or CD. You can do all your work, bypass everything they've blocked, etc, and it shouldn't take you too long to download one and burn it to a LiveCD. The only problem with this is stuff like Dreamweaver (iirc) doesn't have a Linux port or anything, so it might be limited to text editing, PowerPoint (via OpenOffice), etc.
If you gotta stick to Windows, windows Key-E opens My Computer as well. As for the hard drives not showing up, can you get to Control Panel?
