I have put my sons old childrens movies on my external hard drive. Now I want to make copies of them so that he can watch them and not destroy the originals. Its a Comstar RJ45 USB LanDrive unit. Do I simply plug in the USB into my computer and away I go? Or, do I need to shrink these down so that I can copy them? I'm VERY new to this so step by step would be super.

plugging in should work on most drives, try plugging it in, and try, if it doesn't work, come back here for advice. If it doesn't work when you plug it in, don't worry, it won't break it if you don't force it.

That will work. However, keep in mind USB is going to be very slow for those large of files.

You would need to shrink them, if they are >4.37gb, unless you intend to use dual-layer disks, but I think any more discussion on this aspect, would be outside forum rules and may get you banned
