My apologies Bubba, I was looking in the wrong subkey
Okay, I have opened the 4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFCI-08002BE10318 but am unable to find any to find anywhere that says UpperFilters. The 2 subkeys below the above one say 0000 and 0001, when opened they both say digitalaudio. These are followed by a Properties subkey which appears not to open.

Thanks.

You say all the drives are appearing in your "My Computer" window when you open it. With a cd in the drive can you explore the cd by right clicking on the cd icon and selecting explore from the menu?

Buzzby1080,

That's correct, all drives are visible in My Computer and I can explore the cd when it is in the drive.

With the cd in the drive you wish to install right clicking on the cd icon and select Autoplay from the menu. If the programe installs your autoplay has been turned off or set to no action. What window are you using?

Crap, I just realized that you have XP since you said you opened "my Computer" (Edit: LOL and since I saw the second page of this thread lol). I gave you the Vista version. Try this one it works for everything except Windows 2000. It also has the "Fixit" link on it which will take care of it for you rather than you having to manually fix the registery. It also has the manual steps if you prefer that.

EDIT PART2: I also just saw that you said Windows is "seeing" the CD drive, just not playing it. I would still try the Fixit wizard I linked above, but if that doesn't work, I found another page of different things to try. Did I read that you DID try to re install the drivers? If not, definately do that, but don't click "update drivers' on your windows thingie, actually go online and search out the drivers you need and manually install them. Or let me know what your CD player model is and I'll see if I can find them. LOL If it's a Dell (they used a glitched CD for a year or two) of the 'right' type, I have a firmware update that the CD needs to work correctly.

phil,

Application error - installation failed. I am running AVG anti virus and malwarebytes anti malware and as far as I know the admin rights should be the same unless the idiot that checked the pc over messed with these.

Bubba,
Regarding your last post, I had already tried that route with no luck. The CD Drive is HL-DT-ST-CD-RW GCE-8481B. Whene I check it says the drive is working normally.

Thanks.
