| Okay, so I bought an Alienware computer 4 or 5 years ago and it crashed on me a month ago (yet again). Honestly I'm tired of dealing with the hassle of it all so I just want to salvage the harddrive and I'll use my new laptop instead. Don't know what info you need but it's a Barracuda 7200.7 (that's what it says on the back), it is 80 gigs, model ST380013AS. Firmware 3.18 and config SYY-07. But yeah I just want to back the files up onto my external harddrive. I have access to an HP computer from like 1998 and my laptop from 07. Best buy wants to charge me 159 dollars to transfer my files so they can go to hell, honestly. What are my options? ^_^ Thanks in advance. |

| Probably the best bet would be to buy a caddy as http://www.ebuyer.com/product/130305 it then makes your old drive an external drive. otherwise you will need to put the hard drive in the HP as a slave drive and copy all the files over to your external drive, that is presuming that the HP will recognize the 2 drives I'm thinking it maybe running Win98 rather than XP and the USB will be 1 rather than 2 so will be a slow process. |
