Default No audio video !

All on a sudden my Samsung CDDVD writer has stopped playing, even detecting all video audio cd and dvds! Now it even doesn’t read blank dvd. But it still plays bootable cd and other data dvds. What can be the problem? Can you give me any clue, please?

Are you saying you can boot with a bootable CD or DVD and that is all ?

If so this is likely to be a registry problem.

Did you install or uninstall CD/DVD Burning software recently that provides virtual drives or Daemon Tools perhaps ?

What Operating System ?

It can detect bootable cd DVD but cant detect any audio video disc ! peculiar problem! I cant find any clue even.

After noticing the problem I have installed fresh XP by formatting C. All drivers are installed. But still no improvement!

If you formatted the Hard Drive and reinstalled XP, then it sounds like the CD/DVD Drive has a fault.

Can you be a bit more specific though ..... i.e. when you say it cannot PLAY ... do you mean it cannot read the disks or cannot detect the disk drive ?
What happens if you put a Disk in and right click My Computer and select "Explore" ?

Thanks for your kind attention. Problem solved by changing the sata cable. But that may not be consider the only one point. I have also detached the second drive - a combo drive. Now the samsung is working properly.
