I was doing some beats on my laptop with the music software sample path routed to the external hard drive(EHD), the laptop got stuck, so i turned it off and on, now the laptop dont seem to detect the EHD, i have tried it on my other laptop and my PC and even on a friend laptop, all to no avail. I read on the internet about going to disk management to do all that blab blab blab, did the go to BIO set up to make sure HD is not set to slave, did the plug and un plug thing, install and uninstall usb drivers and none work.
The weird thing is, the laptop i use in doing music and school works never goes on the internet but i do use usb sticks and the EHD to move things about. My other laptop (2) and My computer do have internet on them while i was in the process of finding solution to this problem, laptop (2) NOW wont detect any device but my computer can detect my usb sticks but not my EHD and my laptop (1) does detect the usb sticks, the only program i know i intsalled on both laptop(1&2) right before this problem is "morphVox Pro" during the intsalltion there is a part that say assign morphvox as default sound drive which i did on both laptops, i have unintall the program but the problem is still there. Also, weeks before now my phone normally gets detected but few days before this problem none of my laptops or any computer detects my phone. My only guess is that there is a virus inside the EHD and my phone that is making them undetected . As for laptop (2) not recognizing any device, i also think the virus can corrupt usb ports as well. I have been to a computer store, they opened it up to see if it was the power cable and they said it isn't and was told to go to a special data recovery center. Is it possible that they will be able to recover any data if there is a virus in the EHD. I dont want to waste 500-700 pounds on nothing. i've had the EHD for about 4-5 months |

Well, your question is long and a bit confusing. but from what i see, your EHD is prob just corrupted or you have a wire in the inclosing thats or messed up...
I usually don't take computer stores advice too seriously, do you have very importent information on it? what i would do is open the casing and check if it is Sata, than maybe u can connect it to the computer directly in the inside, than check if it works. if not than its definatly a problem inside the harddrive. Did you ever mess with the drive or drop it at any point? do you carry it in your backpack Good chance your drive is just messed up. Replace it |

Yeah, might only be caddy problem. Take it to the shop if you feel uncomfortable opening the caddy.
