| well, I'm terribly disappointed in samsung. i read the reviews and it looks like Hitachi has a better track record than the WD. (of the 2 i selected anyway) i want a lot of opinions before i buy. its a lot of money to invest and if it dies theres a lot of data that i store.

| I'd've quoted the Samsung T166 500gb as well but as you had 2 Samsung's die on you..... The Deskstar would by my second choice. Nice and fast read/write for gaming.

| western digital and seagate are the best hard drive makers out there. hitachi is close by, but i've seen a few of their products die prematurely first hand. whereas this 40 gig western digital i'm using right now has been in service for close to 7 years or so and hasn't had one hiccup.

if i were you, i would stick with western digital. i'm ordering another one of their hard drives to replace the one i'm currently using. i'd like better read/write speed from my hard drive. and an ide drive isn't going to do the job anymore. time to go sata and 7200 rpm. it's high performance and quality for me from here one out :3 My System: Ezekiel

| again, if i were you, definitely WD. WD and Seagate are like Nvidia and ATI. they're both really good, but one is slightly better. and in this case, it's western digital that's better.
