im considering on my next build to get a SSD for computer but i dont know when coz my computer hasnt blown up yet so could be a while, i just want your opinion are they worth getting also i heard somewhere that SATA 2 which is 300Mbps isnt quick enougth for it it needs at least SATA 3 which will come out next year which is 600 i think

The good ones are fine. The bad ones are slower than traditional HDDs. SATA 2 is fine.

i personally don't see the point of SSD's in desktops. in laptops, yeah i can see them being useful.

but if i'm not mistaken can't tradional HDD's at 7200RPM read and write at full SATA 2 speed?

no 7200rpm drives are no where near the 300MBps threshold there like sata 1 which is 150MBps

i dont know how much all those ssd cost but i know it was bludy expensive to say the least

OCZ Vertex SSDs aren't very expensive - more per GB, of course, but in general they're not that bad.

ive heard corsair SSD's are really reliable and and quick access time but not really fast, respectivaly the 90MB read and 70 write
