Default Pen Drive corruption (Please, help)

Good evening, everyone. I am in sort of a situation here. First of all, I was working in some very important work of my own, and when I pressed F12 to save the Microsoft Word file the screen froze. Now, I did wait a while to see if it returned to normal, but after a while, I became agitated. So, I tried to eject the usb drive, and it did not respond. After several minutes, I really became mad and chose to shut down the computer. It was then that the screen froze yet again, showing only the desktop image, not the desktop items. I was so frustrated, that I took out the pen drive while in the process.

The laptop returned to normal, but when I placed the pen drive back, it did recognize it, but it needed to be formatted. So, I ask you, can i recover my files without loosing them or the pen drive? And if so, where can I find a rellayable source.

Also, the properties of that pen drive show that there are no bytes in the memory. Nothing, not even space to place any.

Thanks for the reply, I will be checking the site. Thank you.

By the way, I've heard that there is a "dirk repair" in Windows's Start button taking to All Programs, Accesories, Sistem Tools, etc... Can anyone tell me something about it?
