I have installed a DVD RAM and a CD RW drive into my computer. both will play audio and the DVD will play Video.

However, neither will record. The jumpers are set to master and slave with the slave on the centre connector of a 40 wire cable. The reg. has been set to '2'' for both drive and Record has been enabled in the properties.... What am I ding wrong. I have tried several other combinations but nothing I try works

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks Sugs

If they both show up in My Computer and read discs then it is not jumpers.

Either the software you are using is not configured properly or the burning drive is faulty.

What errors, if any, are you getting when trying to burn?

Hi Dave,

I think it must be a software problem as both drives show on 'My Computer' that rules out any problem with the jumpers - thanks for that!

I think it must be a software problem. Whatever is going wrong here must be down to something I have not done. I have built two identical computers and they both display the same symptoms. I have built several computers in the past and they all work fine. However those only had one drive ...

I have just discovered that if I use Nero StartSmart I can write to the DVD drive( I still get “E:\ is not accessible. Incorrect function.” if I try to write to the CD) However if I try to use the windows OS writer it still asks me for a disk even though there is one in the drive.
