Default Problem with my hard drives!

Hi! Something happened with my PC and i had to wipe it, so i went to put Vista on and it says that i dont have any hard drives attached. I havnt moved my pc so my hard drives shouldnt have just randomly came out. So i tryed using my XP disk to see if that made any difference but that said the same thing

I have never seen this problem before so i was woundering if any of you knowledgeable people know of any reasons why this might have happened or how i can go about fix it,

Thanks for any help,
Sam

Default Problem with my hard drives!

Do the drives show up in the BIOS?

Yea they are in the BIOS. Only thing i can think of is some kind of virus but im not sure if a virus can stop a hard drive working altogether,

A virus wont stop drives showing up when installing an OS.

Are they SATA drives?

XP will need a driver for them to show up when installing and Vista has issues when two SATA drives are plugged in when installing it so just run one.

Yeah SATA2 is SATA.

XP needs drivers upon install for them to show up, Vista doesn't but has issues with two drives so disconnect the power to the secondary drive and try Vista again.
