My sons pc went bang a few weeks ago, i took the slave HD out of it as it has about 10gb of mp3's on it. I have connected the slave to 2 different pcs but both pcs refuse to boot with it connected, all i get is a disk failure error message. Unplug the slave and all is well again. I have tried switching it to master and cable select but to no avail. How can i retrieve the stuff off the slave?

Thanks

I doubt you can, sounds like it is faulty.

For £150 - £500 this company can take it apart in a clean 100 lab and repair it.

Suppose it depends how important the data is.

It's not too important, i have about half of the data backed up on cd, just means the other half is lost.
