Exclamation Problems !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ive got an old PC that im giving to a friend it has a 20GB hardrive. The PC runs on XP home edition.

the problem is i want to destory this hardrive because there is info on their about my credit cards etc. so i said to him just buy a new hardrive and i can put it in the PC

this new hardrive would be totally blank. so would i have to copy any data from the old hardrive e.g Boot data.

or would i just need to install windows XP on the new hardrive

Save your mate some dollar and wipe the drive using this bit of kit from www.killdisk.com
Does he want to use it as a spare drive or an OS drive?

Agreed, however you will have to install a brand new copy of XP on the new drive.

basically yr saying all i need to do is put the new blank hardrive in the PC

insert the new copy of XP into the CD drive

when the PC turns on open up the BIOS and make the PC boot from the CD drive

and that should do it

I'm sorry mate but I'm confused here with regard to your mate and 20gb drives etc.
