| I have never done raid on a computer before (always stuck with a single hard drive). I wondering how these two hard drives would work together. Hitachi 750gb 7,200rpm 32mb cache and Fujitsu 36gb 15,000rpm The main question I am curious about is whether there will be a performance increase or if it will stay the same. I already have the Hitachi 750gb hard drive and am wondering if there will be a speed upgrade or if it will even work combined with such a big hard drive compared to the other. Also which of the hard drives do you set to master and slave? I have never done raid before even though I know how to build a computer. ![]() |

| i wouldn't bother because the speeds and storage capasitys are too far apart. raid works by splitting files between the 2 drives so your 15,000 rpm would speed up file reading speeds but it would have to wait for the slower drive to catch up. in other words you would be wasting your time. i would suggest not going with raid and just install your os and frequently used programs on the 15,000 rpm and put everything else on the other drive. i hope this has helped! |
