Exclamation RAID Question

My Dad has a external Lacie 1 TB drive (not sure which model) inside it has four 250 GB hard drives and a RAID controller, the controller went bad, he called Lacie to get it repaired they won't work on it because it's out of warranty, my question is can I buy a different RAID controller, hook up the drives, and pull off the data on the drives, He does not want to risk losing the data that is currently on them, and I'm not sure if connecting them to a different RAID controller will corrupt the data.

Thanks

Default RAID Question

I'm not really that versed regarding RAID but you could have a look here Mstoebner.

Default RAID Question

I'm pretty sure you can just connect them up to a PC internally like a slave drive and access the data, most new PCs have RAID on the motherboard as standard.

You cannot lose the data unless you drop them or format them etc.
