I see alot of people say the raptor is fast, but at what area's is it fast in.I'm new to this but I do know that I want my computer to work for me very fast.I'm not much of a gammer,so I need speed for multi-tasking.Does it help in loading up programs faster
ect.

On another note, would two 74Gb raptors in raid configuration be faster than a 150Gb
raptor x?

They are fast in seek time, meaning they find and get you the information you ask for, quicker. I personally don't see the real benefit in them, unless the price has gone down. What will you be using your computer for?

A normal drive is about 7500 rpm a Raptor is 10000 rpm.

So in basic terms they are a third quicker, although there is a bit more to it than that.

I'll mostly be using my computer for surfing the net, downloading, movie editting.I wanted something that would load up-dates and coman things like that faster.I planned on adding a blue-ray player would this help in play back.Is there anything faster than a raptor on the market for home use.

There isn't and it's only going to make a real difference in gaming at high levels I think.

I have two raptors in RAID0, and I would recommend it :) File copying is much much faster, though i find it hard to pin down the speed improvement to it being the new raptor drives or the fact they are running in RAID0

I would think RAID has a lot more to do with it.

Cheers :) Either way I got my raptors second-hand as I wasn't prepared to be paying the hefty retail price for them.
