| Im new to these forums and I would really appriciate a hand from someone with my problem. I am running a Pentium 4 with windows xp, Iam not too sure of the specifics Im not very computer literate ![]() I bought a 140gig seagate hard drive brand new from a computer shop around 6 months ago. All of a sudden my hard drive stopped being detected in the IDE drives on the boot screen. If I restart, or leave it and come back and turn it back on it sometimes detects, boots up and goes great. I thought it could be the IDE cable so I bought a brand new one. and I still have the same problem I have noo clue what it could be but im about to buy a new computer Im that fustrated ![]() please help me! |

| Can someone refresh my memory about when motherboards started to be capable of handling disks this size? I have a P4 upstairs running disks up to 320Gb, but I updated the firmware.
