Hi Folks,

I've been told to reformat my 8GB FAT32 flash drive in an attempt to reduce frequent system crash.

My C-drive uses NTFS, the flash drive came with FAT32.

Do I reformat the flash drive with FAT32 or NTFS, and why please?

NTFS is better, more stable, faster access etc.

FAT32 is only needed if you want to use the flash drive in Win98 or below.

OK, done that Dave - thanks my friend.

So, why do these drives come with FAT32 pre-installed? Do they expect idiots like me to know that if they have an OS later than Win98 the drive should be re-formatted once it's out the plastic?

I also have a 2GB FAT flash drive used mainly for storing old PC-based games (like Zak McKraken & the Alien Mindbenders, pinball, etc.), user manuals and the odd program (such as cCleaner, etc.) Would you reckon I should d/l to C, reformat to NTFS too, then d/l back to the flash?
