| Hello Mike,Thanks for the reply, not sure what’s installed at the moment apart from it being 60gig. I'm pretty good at this type of thing, got the manual and had a dabble but didn't touch the drive. Turn laptop over, remove battery, remove door to drive by undoing 2 screws and the drive just lifts out of its carrier. My concern is compatibility, such as the connectors to the drive, they talk on the Scan site that their drives now being available in 2 flavours. My issue is that I've got to just get the drive, get it installed, load my new ubuntu system and turn to my wife and say, there you go, sorted and all for £50. You see she's a little bit like your dog and can get over excited, especially when I spend money on my gadgets, just moved to a nice part of the country so have no spare cash. If she can see it done and dusted the less she runs around the house ranting, huh dogs, I mean women. As long as you think what I'm thinking of getting has reasonable spec then great, sounds like you know better than me about these things judging form other answer you give people. |

| You need a bog standard IDE or PATA drive by the sound of it, not SATA. http://www.bixnet.com/prr3se.html Seems to indicate that 160Gb would be OK but you may need to flash the BIOS. Also found this: http://www.takeitapart.net/archives/...resario-r3000/ Mike |
