Default SATA DVD-ROM drive for new build - advice please

Hello all,

I would like your help and suggestions on which DVD-ROM drive to buy. Ideally it should be SATA, and have good reviews from reputable sources.

Don't worry about suggesting DVD-RAM/-R DL/-RW drives etc, I already have one of those thanks.

If it helps, motherboard will be an ASUS Striker Extreme 680i SLi (socket 775)

Thanks for your assistance,

Michael

Firstly, congrats on the awesome mobo. Nice to see it spec'd there.

Don't worry 'bout it. Amazingly, the 1st one you suggested was the one that I'd already spec'd for!

Anyway, perhaps I might jsut go for two SH S203's ; why not?

Yeah, why not. You only need one optical drive but no harm in having a backup.

I prefer to have two, like you say, as a backup, but also because I do quite a bit of disc-to-disc copying, so having 2 drives is easier that having to copy to HDD and back.
