hi, i got my g/f's pc here that is running vista,its got a 200 gb ide drive and i have got a 500gb sata drive (the sata drive has 3 partition's on it and was used on my older pc) when i plug it in2 the pc it starts to load vista, just after the scrolling bar has gone the screen go's blank and it halts for a long time b4 vista will finaly show up, if i unplug it it loads perfect again,
im probably missing somthing stupid , i have played with the bios and changed between the diffrent sata modes, but i am totaly stumped, i am using a askock P4i65G , if thats any help at all, anyways any information would be gr8 as iv been trying to sort this 4 a wee while now and the hold she has of ma nutz is getting increasingy intense lol

p.s i have got the pc set to boot the IDE drive , the sata has xp on it so it is trying to load the vista drive

this may not be the case but make sure that raid isnt enabled.

thx, i do have raid switched off and i also just updated the bios, still nothing, im going to go to my house n steal the sata pci (via 6421l ) and see if it works with that installed , if not then i am totaly stumped as 2 why it does not work, im not a novice computer user , i have been doing these things for agesow but this 1 totaly stmped me so i thot id ask 4 advice, cheers for the reply much apreciated,

if anyone else has any ideas its all feel free to drop a note in here all are apreciated

you could try getting a pci sata controller and see if it works then
