Default SD cards/readers

Hiya all just an annoying query re SD cards and my intergrated card reader. I have always had trouble with my reader and never had confidence in it. I have recently bought new cards and I find that when I try to use them it brings up the not responding logo. More strangly when I attempt to formatt all the cards it tells me that the card is write protected which it is not. I would appreciate any ideas, Brilliant forums here, very informative, and we are all still learnibg. Thanks in advance K.

firstly is the card reader installed properly, i.e are drivers installed. reader wired properly to your m/b
some new cards have a tiny slide on the side of them to lock and unlock them
can you check the cards on another pc and see if you get the same result?

hiya all, just an upcate on my prob. I have investigated into the depths that is my computer and discovered that a fan has snapped off a heatsync on my graphics card. I duly contacted the manufacturer(medion) only to discover that my machine was indeed within the 3 year warranty by just 5 days so they are sending me a new graphics card FOC. I will keep you posted, thanks for your help. PS should I get a lottery ticket with this luck?. K.

Default SD cards/readers

Hi, I have built-in card readers on my desktop. Up until recently when I inserted a card the card would be seen in XP explore and my computer. The drves also showed up when no card was inserted.

Now I go to explore or my computer and the drives do-not show up. When I insert a card only the Canon photo impotrer opens up. The inserted card is not recognised by XP explore or my computer.

Any thoughts?
