i picked sata because i have been told sata is better/faster here are the 2 http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=636467 and http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=706976 the hitachi one seems to be a bit faster but cheaper, they both come with the same warranties so im just wondering what other people think i should get thanks again My System: Cewy's wonder macine

| SATA will only work if you have a SATA motherboard. If it were me I'd buy a Western Digital hands down.

| Of the 2 drives you mention, I would go for the Seagate, as the Hitachi drives can be quite noisy.

| On closer inspection I don't think they do one, 32MB cache is quite big and new.

| If you really want the 32MB go for anything other than Seagate, I have had many fail on me.

One point to remember is .... things change ...... i.e what may be considered a good or a bad drive a few years ago, may be the opposite today and vice versa, for example the New Seagate drives are now considered very reliable. As with anything else though, statistics by themselves and opinions can be subjective for example there may be more breakdowns on Ford cars than any other make, but when you consider there are more Fords on the road than any other, this isn;t exactly surprising . At the end of the day you pay your money and take your chances, there are no guarantees and any make of drive can die at any time, although Seagate do offer a 5 year no quibble warranty. IMO the one drive to avoid is the Maxtor, as mentioned in the above link. My System: Home Build
